Subject: Fishing Facts
I researched all of this info over a two month period in both worlds by experimenting and keeping records. I hope you put it to good use making the most of your fishing trips.

Fishing produces the largest increasing, predictable, and repeatable income in the game.

A fishing license (good for 15 days...30 fishing trips) is $5000 gold until character level 15, then it's $5000 plus $1000 per character level, not fishing level.

You are alloted a certain number of casts that are restored at reset.
The number of casts you get is dependent on your fishing level. Higher fishing levels=more casts.

The initial investment to fish for under level 15 players will be recovered in approximately three fishing trips using the most expensive (not counting boats) equipment to start. Over level 15 players may want to purchase a kayak, rig, or ferry first, and fish with bollies to raise their fishing level more quickly but, it will still pay off if you fish from the bank. First time fishers around character level 3 make approximately $5k per trip. A character level 15 player will have to pay $20k for a license plus around $8k for good gear and bait; however, even fishing from the bank he will still be making a profit within 7 or 8 fishing trips, and that's without counting raises in fishing levels. THE HIGHER THE CHARACTER LEVEL, THE HIGHER THE GAIN IN FISHING LEVEL EXPERIENCE.

Once purchased, fishing gear (including boats) cannot be re-sold, traded, thrown away, or demolished.

Most popular combinations: (cheap bait hits as good as expensive)
Strong Rod and Sturdy Line
Small hooks---maggot, tackle.
Large hooks---bollie. (ferry required for shark)
(USE ONLY BOLLIE, MEAT, OR HEMP WITH THE LARGE HOOK. THE REST OF THE BAITS ARE FOR THE SMALL HOOKS)

Various Prices
(strong rod can be used on bank, in kayak, and is required for rig/ferry)
Strong rod...$5000 gold (goes to depth 7)
Long rod.....$2000 gold (goes to depth 9)
short rod.......$500 gold (goes to depth 4)

Sturdy line......$50 gold (only need one/doesn't break)
Large hook.....$20 gold (only need one/doesn't break)
Small hook.....$10 gold (break, buy up to 99)
Maggot............$5.00 gold (buy up to 49)
Bollie.............$40 gold (buy up to 49)

Fastest way to increase income: purchase better fishing platform.
Fishing from bank/shallows is free
Kayak..........$50,000. gold
Fishing rig...$250,000. gold
Ferry.........1,000,000. gold

Big fish break small hooks, normal, and thin line.
Small fish can't swallow big hooks.
Fish strike different baits better at different times and depths.
I found no depth or bait that consistently hits better than another.

CASTS COUNT TWICE WHEN USING SLOW REEL SPEED. One fish caught: fast reel=one cast, slow reel=two casts. I've yet to find any advantage in using slow reel speed.

Cast and nothing happens......................no exp. no cast counted.
Fish gobbles bait & breaks hook.............25 exp. no cast counted.
Fish gobbles bait but hooks too big.........25 exp. no cast counted.

FISH DIDN'T LIKE BAIT & SWAM AWAY......25 exp. 1 CAST COUNTED.
(USE ONLY BOLLIE, MEAT, OR HEMP WITH THE LARGE HOOK. THE REST OF THE BAITS ARE FOR THE SMALL HOOKS)

The above cast exp values go up with character level.
Gold per fish values depend on fishing platform.(bank, rig, ferry)
Experience per fish depends on character level and platform.
Line length does not affect exp or gold unless fish are caught.

As an unsubscriber, I purchased the kayak first, then the fishing rig, and then finally I purchased the ferry on my 41st day in the game.

(5-18-200 Character level 22, fishing level 39 with 101 casts per trip using a ferry. After fishing and replenishing my supplies for the next trip, I'm depositing about 33k per reset, or 66k per day.

(6-2-0 Character level 25, Fishing level 44, 111 casts, ferry, $77k per day.

(6-17-0 Character level 25, Fishing level 49, 121 casts, ferry, all small hook trip, $82k per day.

(6-17-0 Character level 5, Fishing level 31, 85 casts, ferry, all small hook trip, $78k per day.
(some days are better than others)

(7-22-0 Character level 27, Fishing level 54, 131 casts, ferry, all small hook trip, $92k per day.
[vacation mode for 18 days]

............................................Summary....................................................

STRONG ROD
STURDY LINE
FAST REEL

Use cheaper baits first. Expensive baits just cost more.

LARGE HOOK--more exp/less gold (use only bollie, meat,or hemp)

SMALL HOOK--more gold/less exp (use all baits other than bollie, meat or hemp)

DEPTH--only 7 to choose from (with strong rod and fast reel) to find where your bait isn't stolen so much, and you catch more fish.

TO FISH FAST, until Feltash gives us a button for it:
Pick your hook, bait, depth, and reel speed on the fishing screen, and then click cast. From then on, quickly alternate pressing the F5 key and the enter key repeatedly until all of that particular bait is gone. Pick a new bait and repeat.
Thanks for the info mercurydye (world 2).
