ate is singular, but it is still a proper noun. Therefore, you have to look at the indirect subjective, versus the direct subjective. The indirect would be their, since it is impersonal and not related to the character. On the other hand, you could use his or her as the direct if the program actually knew what gender the character was. So, it would have to be their (and it would be correct) until they add an update for gender recognition |
