| the French President got upset with one of his Euro MP's for addressing the European Parliament in English and the retort was that why shouldn't I - most MEP's speak English but the same can not be said of French! Another example I had was in a crowded ski gondola I was talking to a Swedish (I think it was) person and got told off - in English - by a French Ski Instructor for not speaking French. I pointed out that he was practically the only French person out of about 20 and we were all new to each other communicating in English and there must have been 8 or more nationalities in the gondola! |
