Subject: There's an old... | |||||
WW2 Wellington bomber at the airspace museum at RAF Cosford near me, I used to work as a weekend volunteer restoring the old birds with my dad. Anyway, this one time I'm having a sneaky cigarette in the tail gunner ball, when I hear the side door open. Turning round (and panicking to put the smoke out) I saw a guy walking up towards the cockpit... thinking it was my dad looking for me, I got out the ball and went forwards to go see, but when I opened the cockpit door, there was no one there, and they couldn't of gotten back out without me seeing as the side hatch was closer to me... I got out of there pretty sharpish, and one of the curators saw me, and commented on me looking so pale... He told me the story of that planes last mission, and how after it had returned to base, the ground crew had gone to do the usual checks, but had found all the crew inside dead, shot to pieces, with the pilots so badly damaged, they could not possibly have flown... Needless to say, I never went back inside the Wellington bomber |
