 Subject: Pls explain upgrades to rigs
Unlike upgrades in the rest of the game, I can find no legend of what is gained by spending the various millions of gold for the various upgrades (i.e. hull types, shields and armor for my ship)

If I'm going to spend millions of gold on these upgrades, only to lose it if it doesn't help (I'm assuming they can't be sold at a later date) then I need to make some intelligent decisions about what upgrades to buy.

HELP!!! pls.
